Gaporoure (Formerely Koorakoorakup, aka Sunbury, Victoria)
Background:
Gaporoure ("Gap Route") emerged from the ashes of a former bustling satellite city of Naarm / Melbourne. A small, but emerging town in a largely desolate and unoccupied space, Gaporoure was established on January 31st, 3026. Since it humble foundings, the town is beginning to experience a population boom, owed to the abundance of natural resources, though the limited access to raw and refined materials may hamper long-term progression.
Gaporoure derives it name from the location of the former town being wedged between in a valley surrounded by hillsides, grasslands and bush. It is said that the town was one surrounded by the last active volcanos in the region, evident by the limitless amount of Volcanic rocks found in the area.
Soon, the map will not show country borders or roads.Resources:
Early pioneers have identified the following areas of resources, noting areas of potential and concern:
- Abundance - Thanks to his location a respectable distance from former city sites, Gaporoure is blessed with quantities of lumber, fish and fertile soil, despite the terrain. Ancient and modern fishing techniques, tied with foraging and an emerging agriculture, will mean starvation won't be an option.
- Steady - While the rivers, lakes and trees are teeming in wildlife and materials, the hilly terrain and the fact that the town is situated in the middle of the valley hampers expansion. Aside from the exhausting manual labour, dangerous wildlife and thickets on the edge of town, the soil, while fertile, is held back by terrain challenges.
- Deficit - Being a former satellite city where denizens travelled elsewhere to work, there is a noticeable lack of infrastructure of production facilities, knowledge or tools. Short-term, this isn't a problem but eventually in the long-term it will hamper town expansion. The town site seems more suitable for complimentary farming practices such as vineyards, as opposed to mass production of foodstuffs, though this may be resolved as the town grows.
Culture:
Gaporoure consists of a blend of those who come from a proud history of descendants of the local First Nations people, to descendants of colonisers and criminals brought abroad. While much of the past buildings, history and relics were wiped out, earth rings, the same historic Aboriginal sites that survived colonisation, survived once more. The early residents of the town established their centre near this site, celebrate marriages, funerals and milestone achievements, a fusion of the past, and the past.
Demographics:
Currently, the population of Gaporoure is 69
